Contemporary Magalsutra Designs

Today I am posting some of the designs I  recently collected from a catalog. The designs are not typical magalsutra designs.The designs are from S K Jewels catalog.I am so inspired by the designs.These designs have a modernity as well as combination of different styles there is meenakari, kundan work, intricate jaal work,precious and semi precious stones like jade and ruby. Literally way away from typical magalsutra pattens.So have a look .

Today's  post is about  traditional Maharashtrian jewellery piece Vajratik . Vajratik is a beautiful combination  of Jondhale mani and Krushna Lila Nakshi inside the zig zag  shape design.  Artisans from Kolahapur are famous in making  this kind of  jewellery. This kind of jewellery is made  with the help of an  traditional die and making  the hollow mani's needs much skill .

Pearl Haram with American Diamond Pendant

This Pearl Haram with oval pearls is beautifully handcrafted.Normally pearls are tied over a gold string, but in this haram each pearl is intricately knotted with gold string and ruby studded gold pieces in between the pearls increase the beauty of this haram.

This peacock design can serves  as a Pendant for short necklace , Pendant for long pearl haram, even  can be used as Mangalsutra  Pendant or Centre peice of arm band. This Pendant was made by one of my relative I couldn't take a snap of the finished design after it was embellished with Pearl droppings. But even though it looks great anyway at this stage also, The pendant weight varies as per customer budget ,but with a minimum weight of around 8 - 10 gms

The above pendant has a contemporary design with white kundan studded on it and black color menkari with matching earrings .Color of the pendant wares as per the customer choices.

 Red color menakari with earring pattern having a slight change the black pendant has earrings with droplets but for Red color pendant has matching stud pattern earrings.

This 22k Gold Pendant with matching earrings. The pendant with intricate twisted wire work weighs around 5-6 grams and earrings weighing around 3 gms.This set as nice contemporary design which makes this set an ideal party ware jewellery it will look nice on saree as well as western outfits also.
